The Department of Health and Social Care has issued an update about ward closures at Noble's Hospital.
Two wards were closed last Friday due to a suspected outbreak of norovirus - wards eight and five were closed to new admissions over the weekend.
A number of operations had to be postponed as a precaution - however, given the improving situation there is no intention to postpone any elective surgery today.
Ward five has now been reopened to new admissions as there have been no new cases for the last 72 hours - ward eight however does remain closed as a precaution.
The public is being reminded that 'the best defence' is washing your hands with hot soapy water - especially if visiting anyone in hospital.
Those suffering from diarrhoea or vomiting should avoid going to A&E until absolutely necessary - if possible symptoms should be managed from home or people can contact their GPs by phone.
