A tragedy was narrowly averted last night, after three people in a blow-up dinghy were rescued by Ramsey Lifeboat.
Emergency crews were called out shortly after 5pm, to reports of a small inflatable boat drifting two miles from Cornaa beach.
Three adults were aboard the craft, which had suffered engine failure.
The weather meant the people were unable to return to shore and the boat had drifted out into rougher seas, with those on-board becoming increasingly cold.
However, the owner used his phone to alert lifeboat crews, who managed to rescue the trio just before 6.30pm.
The vessel had no lifesaving equipment, and Director of Harbours Mark Kenyon said the three people are very lucky to be alive.
