Tributes paid to retained firefighter

Neil Walker

Tributes have been paid to a retained firefighter who was killed in a road traffic collision on Wednesday.

43-year-old Neil Walker died after his Kawasaki motorbike collided with a VW Golf on the Laxey to Ramsey Coast Road.

The joiner from Ramsey was married with two children.

Chief fire officer Kevin Groom says he is 'devastated' to lose him in such tragic circumstances - he's described him as a 'truly professional firefighter' who had served at Ramsey Fire Station for over 22 years.

Police are still appealing for witnesses - anyone with information can contact Police Headquarters.
