The Island's General Registry says it's having to bring in a top UK judge to handle a high profile court case, after a deemster resigned over serious health problems.
Deemster Corbett KC had been dealing with combined cases involving more than 700 claimants in an action against insurance companies Utmost International and Friends Provident International.
His stepping down is a situation which has never happened on Island - a deemster resigning after hearing evidence, but before giving judgement on a case.
A UK High Court judge is now in the process of being appointed - and it's hoped the complex legal proceedings will restart in August.
