More than 100 jobs will be created as part of the Tesco takeover of the Island’s Shoprite stores.
That’s according to the supermarket, which is converting nine stores.
It adds that discussions are also going on with local suppliers, with six Manx producers already stocked in Tesco’s existing Douglas store.
Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston welcomes the news of job creation, saying it shows Tesco’s commitment to maintain stability of our food supply and open further opportunities for the work force.
The Island can expect to see five new Tesco Superstores and four Express stores next year.
