Essential Works Set to Scupper Departments Efforts to Keep Within Budget
The cost of clean up operations that follow storms like those experienced on Sunday night could potentially de-rail the Department of Infrastructures saving target.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne said currently his department are on set to come in on budget, but more severe weather could change that.
Teams of workers were out throughout the night providing essential works, clearing the roads of fallen trees and flooding.
Minister Gawne says this comes at a great cost to Infrastructure, and could potentially lead to some schemes having to be shelved to ensure there is enough finances in reserves to cope.
Despite the potential challenges faced by his Department the Minister says no special consideration should be given to Infrastructure, and they will just have to find ways of coping with these issues on a reduced budget.
