It’s now three years since the smoking ban was introduced on the Isle of Man, preventing people from lighting up in enclosed public spaces and workplaces.
Since the ban in 2008 some very positive medical statistics were recorded, with a decrease in heart attacks attributed to the reduction in smokers and smokey pubs.
Latest figures however still show that 19 percent of the Island's population are smokers.
Its implementation followed on from the UK’s and was initially met by a mixed response, with non smokers relishing the clean air and pub landlords concerned that the move would kill trade.
Some pubs struggled with the ban initially although speaking to the one of the bar managers at the Rover’s pub in Douglas things have now settled back to normality thanks to the addition of a sheltered outdoor smoking area.
