The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is warning people could be risking their lives with wood-burning stoves.
It says there are rules and regulations surrounding the stoves which people should follow.
They include having a suitable chimney - and a fireproof hearth to stop fuel falling out onto easily-flammable carpets.
