Rushen MHK's respond to Southern Area Plan

The trio of Rushen MHK's have issued a cautious welcome to the Inspector's Report on the Southern Area Plan.

The report has been described as long and detailed and quite difficult to follow, with the area plan development process described as 'incredibly lengthy' and in need of revision, by former Planning Committee chairman, Juan Watterson.

Both MHK's Laurence Skelly and Phil Gawne have said they are encouraged to see the Inspector's comments with regards to Ballakilley, hoping that land can be zoned for housing and recreational use.

The next step in the process is for the Department of Economic Development to review the plan and make whatever modifications it thinks necessary, with it taken to Tynwald after one further consultation process.
