Retired police officers brought back on zero-hour contracts

Staffing shortages are causing serious problems within the Island's police force.

Yesterday the Chief Constable Gary Roberts published his annual report which showed more officers than usual have opted to leave:
 
 
Budget cuts mean new recruits are only sought as and when they're needed, leaving a nine month gap as they receive the required training.
 
In the Financial Crime Unit retired officers have had to be brought back in on costly zero-hour contracts:
