The Road Safety Team is reminding motorists to take extra care around the Island’s schools after numerous drivers failed to stop when asked to do so by a school crossing patrol officer.
The incidents were reported to the police, and crossing officers will continue to report any vehicles who put children in danger.
Road safety manager Gordon Edwards said crossing officers play a very important role in keeping children safe on their way to and from school and it's an offence to drive through a crossing when signaled to stop.
The Department of Infrastructure will be re-running its campaign radio adverts over the next few weeks advising all motorist’s that 'Stop means Stop’.
