The Isle of Man Prison have confirmed that a prisoner has died in Nobles Hospital.
They have released a statement saying that the elderly male who was serving time in Jurby Prison died on the 18th August after being admitted a few days earlier.
He was treated for a serious medical condition. The Department of Home Affairs say although he died in hospital it is classed as death in custody.
A full inquest is being arranged.
