Postal services affected following evacuation

The Post Office Headquarters will remain closed until further notice.

It comes following a 'suspicious' package being found this morning by a member of staff which resulted in an evacuation of the building in Douglas.

A specialist support team is being brought over from the UK to safely dispose of the package with the sorting office to remain closed at this time.

The Post Office has confirmed the following services are affected:

·         No notice left collections available from Postal Headquarters

·         No access to Postal Headquarters for PO Box customers

·         The post boxes at Postal Headquarters are closed

·         There are no IM1-4 letter or parcels deliveries today

·         No business collections

·         There will be no post box collections today (north collections unaffected)

·         No mail will leave the Island tonight

·         No IMS services today

Services unaffected include:

·         Mail deliveries in the north, south and west of the Island are as normal today

·         All parcels already processed before evacuation of Postal Headquarters this morning, will be delivered this afternoon including a full Yodel delivery

·         Other postal services can be accessed via our Island-wide Retail Network which is open as normal (apart the customer counter at Postal Headquarters)

·         The nearest post offices are located in Anagh Coar and Union Mills

·         The dedicated licensing counter, located in the Isle of Man Business Park, remains open

IOMPO has thanked its customer for their patience at this time due to circumstances beyond its control -  it will issue updates as and when further information is available.
