Post Office Chief Executive Mike Kelly has said last ditch talks could still prevent seemingly inevitable strike action.

Post Office Chief Executive Mike Kelly has said last ditch talks could still prevent seemingly inevitable strike action.

It was confirmed on Monday that the Post Office workers would be holding a 24-hour strike next Tuesday.

Meetings will take place both today and tomorrow, but yet again it will be against the backdrop of the public sector pay freeze.

The Post Office bosses have condemned the strike action saying it will be very damaging to the business; they’ve also accused the Communication Workers Union of having this outcome in mind from the very beginning.

The Post Office yesterday revealed their contingency plan, warning that doorstep deliveries will not be possible during the strike.

Mr Kelly told 3FM he is hopeful CWU rep Terry Pullinger will realise the constraints that the pay freeze has put on the Post Office and look toward sorting out a resolution with this in mind.
