Police are warning people of a Whatsapp scam doing the rounds on Island.
Officers say the scammer sends a message on the platform - pretending to be a loved one - specifically a son or daughter.
The message usually states their phone is broken, asking the recipient to delete the number and save the one the scam message is coming from.
Officers are encouraging people to ignore it and block the number - saying it's already claimed thousands from victims in the last 24 hours.
Most recently the Island's Treasury Minister took to social media to say he received 'two dodgy messages this week' - one supposedly from one of his children who lives in the UK.
The Island's Police force say parents of students who are in the UK are particularly susceptible to this scam, so to take care.
