Upon entering RHS Jewellers in Douglas at around 4pm, the lone male offender threatened the proprietor with a hammer.
Though visibly shaken by the incident, the shop owner was not physically harmed.
Proceeding to grab a high-value quantity of jewellery from the front display window - the man then fled the scene on a red and white coloured ‘off road’ type motorcycle.
His helmet has been described as a distinctive full-face crash helmet with a red logo or design down the middle.
Police are now asking the public to identify a person featured in CCTV pictures.
