Police are advising parents to make sure children on bikes can be seen during the dark winter evenings.
The Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team took to social media last night to issue it's message.
Officers added it's 'not only motorists' on the roads whose lights are 'not functioning 100 per cent'.
It added it's so cyclists are visible on roads in and around Island towns and villages at this time of year.
