Parking in disabled spot hits man in pocket

Douglas Courthouse

A Ramsey man who parked his van in a disabled space whilst he went shopping has been fined £150.

22-year-old James Moss left his work vehicle outside Shoprite in Ramsey just after 6pm on July 25th.

He was spotted by an employee from the commissioners who reported him - observing there were numerous other spaces he could have chosen.

At Douglas Courthouse last week Moss pleaded guilty to failing to display a disabled badge - his advocate told the court his van was long and often overhangs normal spaces.

Magistrates told him it wasn't acceptable to park in the space for that reason and also ordered him to pay £125 in costs telling him "the court takes a very dim view of it".
