A total of 2,271 people were on government incapacity benefits in the past year.
That's down by more than 500 people from the 2,776 who were on it four years ago.
The figures were released by Treasury Minister Chris Thomas in response to a Tynwald question for written reply from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.
He also asked about the cost, with Mr Thomas saying around £15.6 million was paid in benefits over the past year.
