The original Chronicles of Mann book will not be returning full time to the Island anytime soon.
The Chronicles of Mann is a medieval Latin transcript, detailing the very early history of the Isle of Man.
Under the British Museum Act 1753, the Chronicles became part of the British Museum's 'foundation collections'.
This means that despite best efforts to repatriate the text full time to the Island, it can only ever best released for periodic short term loans.
Douglas North MHK John Wannenburgh raised the question for written answer with the Chief Minister Alf Cannan.
He outlined that while the original will predominantly remain at the British Museum, the Manx National Heritage Library have a copy that is available to view in their public reading room Wednesday to Saturday.
