Northern & southern amenity sites re-opening

Amenity sites in the north and south of the Island will reopen to customers today.

The northern facility at Balladoole is due to open from 8am this morning and those in charge there say a booking system will be in place for people to attend.

The Southern Recycling Centre is reopening its doors again at 10am but some restrictions will be in place to maintain health and safety of staff and visitors.

For both venues, social distancing requirements will also be in place, gloves and masks must be worn at all times and there will be a time limit of a maximum of 10 minutes to get rid of items at the site.

Residents are being advised to break down their waste into manageable items so they can be disposed of within the time limit as assistance won't be provided by staff.

At both sites people will be able to dispose of items into the recycling bins, household burnable, green, metal, wood and rubble skips but they won't be accepting Fridges, Freezers, TV’s or monitors at this time.

Meanwhile, the reuse area at the northern site remains closed and officials for the southern location add they'll only accept commercial waste from those registered to do so.
