Tesco and Callow's Yard are currently conducting market research on the Island as part of plans to open a new Express store.
It follows a long running battle to open a supermarket in Castletown - last year the retailer failed to obtain an alcohol licence which threw the future of the idea into doubt.
Now a telephone survey is being carried out which asks questions about people’s shopping habits especially surrounding how they buy alcohol.
A statement from Tesco says it’s working with the developer to seek public opinion on whether a Tesco store in Castletown would be utilised by local people.
