The Department of Infrastructure says it's bringing in new rules for companies that want to drill for oil off the Island's coast.
When Tynwald sits later this month, Minister Ray Harmer will ask members to back regulations governing petroleum licences.
The department says the aim is to maximise the social and economic value of the seabed around the Isle of Man.
The regulations replace a previous set of rules that date back to 1995 and were revoked last year.
