Public investment in the arts is 'vital' if opportunities are to exist for everyone on the Isle of Man.
That's the message from renowned artist Michael Sandle who's become a new patron of the Arts Council.
He says he's passionate about the Manx arts and cultural scene and is looking forward to supporting it going forward.
The Arts Council has also made ex Tynwald President Clare Christian a patron - the duo will assist in promotion and inspiring participation, creativity and excellence in arts and culture.
It's hoped they'll be able to develop the legacy from the Island of Culture year in 2014.
The Arts Council provides funding, support and guidance to individuals and organisations involved in art and culture - it's funded by a proportion of tax from lottery ticket sales.
