New Manx coin released to mark Christmas

The government's released a new coin it hopes will be popular with collectors - even with a price tag of more than £1,100.

The one-ounce gold bullion pieces feature a Viking longship - the pure gold coin is being produced by Pobjoy Mint which is based in Surrey.

Approved by Buckingham Palace the coins bear a picture of the Queen on the flip side and are produced on behalf of the Island to mark Christmas.

According to Pobjoy Mint's website one coin will set you back £1,117.42 - although they are VAT-free.
