An Island mother's been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for causing grievous bodily harm to her 3 month old baby.
In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Michelle Maddocks says it's one of the most difficult cases she's ever been involved in - as the boy was completely healthy before his mum shook and injured him.
The case dates back to December 2022, when he was given emergency treatment at Noble's Hospital before being flown to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.
The police say medical teams were amazed he didn't die from his injuries, and described the woman who has fostered the child as a 'hero'.
