MOTD mention after applause tribute to Island footballer

Middlesbrough football fans have paid tribute to an Island footballer by breaking into a round of applause during a match on Saturday. 

Supporters led the tribute to Louis Thornton in the 26th minute of the match at The Riverside during a clash with Tottenham.
 
The act of remembrance was featured during the coverage of the game on BBC's Match of the Day
 
 
Thornton - who was the first team captain of Manx club Corinthians AFC - was found dead in a hotel room in Liverpool on September 17th; it's understood his death is not being treated as suspicious. 
 
Corinthians also paid tribute to him this weekend at their pitch at Ballafletcher.
