Most FOI requests from non residents, say Commissioners

Castletown Commissioners have released figures showing most Freedom of Information requests they receive are from outside the town.

Over the past year just two requests were filed by Castletown residents, compared to 12 from non-residents.

The local authority says it supports the principle of Freedom of Information requests, but the recent spike has come at a considerable cost to ratepayers.

It adds they also take up resources at the Town Hall, and because of the legal deadlines for replying to requests, often have to be prioritised over other work.
