The number of cars stopped over the festive drink drive campaign has fallen.
The campaign, which runs every year over Christmas and New Year, saw almost 500 drivers stopped, compared to 875 the previous year.
More people were arrested and charged this time though.
Inspector Mark Britton says he is astounded that some people still insist on taking the risk with their and other people's lives by drinking and driving.
He said although numbers were down, the weather played a huge part in that, and officers are still working to catch those who are over the limit behind the wheel.
