A Liverpool pensioner has walked free from court after money-laundering charges against her were dropped.
Sheila May Starkey of Mark Street in Everton appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 75 year old had been charged with attempting to remove £92,000 worth of criminal property from the Island on March 22, but prosecutor James Robinson told the court the charges were being withdrawn.
He told the hearing Mrs Starkey and her daughter had been getting on the ferry with cash tucked inside a hidden compartment in their car.
After hearing Mrs Starkey’s daughter had pleaded guilty to an identical allegation, Mrs Hughes marked the charge withdrawn.
