Policy on mobile phone use in schools is up to the schools themselves.
Education, Sport & Culture Minister, Graham Cregeen, says his department delegates that responsibility to individual institutions when questioned on the matter in the House of Keys this week.
Mr Cregeen added any policy a school implements over the devices must be balanced between the benefits of reducing potential disruption and utilising technology for teaching and learning purposes.
