The Health Minister hopes his department can 'get things moving' to possibly produce medicinal cannabis on Island.
It comes following a public consultation on the matter earlier this year.
More than 99 per cent of people who responded to it backed legalising cannabis for medical purposes.
Out of 3,285 responses, just 0.8 per cent opposed the move although 62 per cent said it should be restricted to over-18s.
In the House of Keys this week Mr Ashford said he supported acting quickly, and hopes his department would follow suit.
