Milestone for visually impaired voters 

Blind and visually impaired people will be able to cast their votes in private for the first time today. 

Tactile voting devices will be used at every polling station around the Island to help those with sight problems. 

The plastic devices fit over the ballot paper and guide the voter to where to place their mark - polling station staff have had full training in how to use them.  

Previously those with sight problems had to rely on staff to assist them meaning they didn't have total privacy.
