In a post on social media, the Search and Rescue Dog Association has paid tribute to Matt and his handler Marc.
It says Matt has had an 'impressive career', and was deployed on more than 50 jobs, some lasting more than three days.
The organisation says the pooch's dedication and skills earned him recognition from the Island's former Chief Constable for saving lives and reuniting loved ones.
Earlier this week Marc was presented with a framed message, a photo of Matt, and his search dog tag.
Those behind the association have wished both Marc and Matt a happy and fulfilling retirement.
