Dwindling Passenger Figures Cited as Reason for Ending East Midlands Route
Manx2.com has announced it’s stopping its route to the East Midlands due to falling passenger figures.
The route started back in March 2008.
It's one of Manx2.com's smallest routes and therefore isn't expected to lose the company too much money.
Company Chairman Noel Hayes spoke to 3FM in light of the route closure, he said despite the earlier positive figures there is now a mismatch between capacity and demand on the route.
Asked if a new route would take its place Mr Hayes said there are currently far too many empty seats leaving the Isle of Man to justify putting on a new service.
Recently Manx2 have begun diversifying their service in an effort to be able to maintain the rest of their Isle of Man routes.
