Island Team En Route to Delhi Despite Major Uncertainty that Everything Will be Complete in Time
Team Isle of Man will this morning be starting the long journey to Delhi for the Commonwealth Games.
Things are looking a lot more optimistic today than they were mid week when there were serious doubts that the athletes village would be ready in time for the thousands of competitors.
The Island of course has only sustained one casualty, that being cyclist Peter Kennaugh who opted out due to health and safety concerns.
Whilst in Delhi the Manx team consisting of 32 athletes and 20 officials will be under the watchful eye of a metropolitan police security team, under strict instructions not to leave the athletes village on their own.
The opening ceremony will be held next weekend.
