Two political parties have welcomed a new government study into cannabis, which could modernise the Island's drugs policy.
The study by Liverpool John Moore's University has been commissioned by the Department of Home Affairs and will consider how widely-used and harmful the drug is on the Island.
On Facebook, the Manx Labour Party says current drug policy has failed to eliminate drug use or stamp out the trade - and the biggest danger associated with cannabis is the risk of being caught with it.
Meanwhile on Twitter, Liberal Vannin said it looks forward to the day when recreational cannabis use will be regulated but legal on the Island.
Liberal Vannin welcome the review into 'illicit' drug use on the Isle of Man. It is long overdue. We look forward to continuing to contribute to the debate and the day when 'recreational' cannabis use in particular will be regulated but legal here
