Local Marine Martin Peters Suffers Broken Leg and Shrapnel Wounds in Afghanistan
A Royal Marine from the Isle of Man is recovering in a UK hospital after sustaining serious injuries on Friday in Afghanistan.
Martin Peters suffered a broken leg as well as shrapnel wounds.
The cause of his injuries are yet to be confirmed by it's likely they came as a result of either a roadside bomb or a suicide bomber.
Martin was last on the Island at the end of June for the Armed Forces Day where he took part in the procession shortly before flying back out to continue his tour.
He's currently being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Major Charles Wilson, of the British Legion said despite Martin's injuries the Manx Public should be releived that he will make a full recovery.
