Major Changes Planned For Departments
The Chief Minister has announced a major shake up for Government departments, the whole Government is being re-shuffled with plans to introduce seven new departments.
The proposals are in light of the islands share of vat revenue being cut.
It's the biggest changes within departments for more than 20 years.
Tony Brown wants to focus on generating new income for the Island. He said that the drive for new business and new income needs to be renewed urgently.
So, to do that, Government functions will be regrouped.
A brand new department is being set up called the department of economic development - that includes things like e- business, Isle of Man film and Finance.
For the other departments a wide range of functions will be re-grouped into one.
For example Agriculture, Transport and Leisure would all fall under the same umbrella.
Only the Home Affairs and Education departments will remain as they are.
The restructuring proposals won't lead to any redundancies.
They could be implemented as soon as April.
Tony Brown spoke to 3FM about the spending implications of the shake up. (AUDIO ABOVE)
