A Catholic deacon is calling for the Assisted Dying Bill to be put on hold until after September's general election.
Graeme Easton, parish deacon of St Mary's in Castletown, says the legislation is flawed, and the current parliament shouldn't spend any more time on it.
Calling it the 'Assisted Suicide Bill', he claims the proposed laws have been pushed through 'at breakneck speed'.
In his letter, he compares it to the slow progress on bringing a business case to reinstate the horse trams on Douglas Promenade, calling the situation ironic.
