A man who bit off an ear in an unprovoked attack in a Douglas has had a planned appeal against his sentence thrown out.
Gavin Patterson, described by judges as dangerous and "a life-long criminal who shows no sign of stopping", was jailed for eight years and six months for the attack in Glen Falcon Gardens in Douglas during TT 2024.
Applying for permission to appeal, he claimed the sentence fell outside guidelines and was excessive - but Judge of Appeal Cross and Acting Deemster Wild described the application as "without merit" and hopeless.
They refused permission top appeal, and increased the time he'll spend on licence after his release from three to five years.
