A man who assaulted a police officer in a Douglas town centre pub has avoided an immediate jail sentence.
Benjamin Arthur Carter of Ronague Road in Ballabeg appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 42 year old admitted assaulting police and resisting them at the Front Porch on Duke Street on July 3.
The court heard Carter had been drunk when he was asked to leave by staff, who called police when he refused to go.
As officers tried to arrest his brother, Carter struggled with them, kicking one officer before he was sprayed with incapacitant.
Mrs Hughes imposed a 16-week prison term, suspended for two years, and ordered Carter to pay £750 compensation and £125 costs.
