A man who crashed a car at high speed had no driving licence and was around twice the legal limit at the time, a court's heard.
Stephen Paul Binding, whose address was given as care of the prison, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 30-year-old admitted drink-driving, having no licence or insurance and dangerous driving on August 4 last year.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing Binding overtook a van in his Vauxhall Vectra at around 7.15pm on the Kirk Michael to Ballaugh coast road, but clipped the other vehicle to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming car.
Binding's car rolled several times and landed on its roof, trapping a passenger inside - when police arrived he claimed someone else had been driving the vehicle.
After his arrest he told police he'd been drinking all day and a blood sample showed he was just under double the legal alcohol limit.
Mr Brooks remanded him in custody and committed him to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, where he'll appear again on April 22 for sentencing.
