A male has been detained by police overnight after getting involved in a fight with plain clothed police officers.
A male was arguing with a woman on Douglas Promenade opposite the Empress Hotel at around 10:15PM last night.
The under cover coppers were passing by stepped in.
That turned into a scuffle which led to the 23 year old local man being arrested.
He was kept in for questioning overnight.
Officers say at the time a lot of people were in the vicinity and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
They are particularly interested in hearing from anybody who was filming in the area at the time to offer their footage to the police.
