Island's stroke figures are high says expert

An Island specialist says stroke figures are high for the Island's small population.

A stroke is a condition where part of the brain is suddenly damaged due to an interruption in the blood supply. 
 
Out of 300 new strokes, 250 of them are due to blockage of blood supply, caused by aging, high-blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking.
