House fire sparks appliance warning

Firefighters are urging people to service their domestic appliances regularly after a house fire in Ramsey yesterday.

They were called out to a blaze on Lheaney Road at 1.10pm where they found thick smoke coming from a downstairs room.

No-one was in the property and the fire was extinguished, and the property ventilated, within two hours.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service hasn't confirmed the exact cause of the blaze but says it highlights the importance of having a working smoke alarm fitted.
