A Hare has had to be put to sleep after it was hit by a car and the driver didn't stop.
The Manx SPCA has described the incident as 'a sad end to the week'.
The female was brought to the charity after being found at the side of the road in Garth.
The MSPCA says she was 'clearly involved' in a road traffic accident and the driver failed to stop and bring the injured Hare to a vet.
Unfortunately, it was confirmed she had sustained a shattered pelvis - which couldn't fixed - so the vets had no alternative but to put her to sleep.
The charity says " The inhumanity of the vehicle driver goes without saying; but we all need to be extra careful at the moment when driving on country roads - the verges are overgrown and wildlife can literally run into the road with very little chance of a driver seeing it first."
