Government is making "good progress" on a package of support measures to help people with the spiralling cost of living.
That's the admission from Chief Minister Alfred Cannan - after the Council of Ministers met earlier today.
Mr Cannan says he wants to 'reassure the public and businesses' government is aware of the anxiety people are facing - particularly around energy costs.
He said officials are making progress on finalising a support package to help people get through the winter months and into 2023.
However, the Chief Minister says there is more work to be done - with the Council of Ministers due to meet again next Monday (22).
Mr Cannan hopes to announce the winter support package next Thursday (August 25).
Last week Government announced a further £2.8 million in support for those most at risk, it follows an initial £6.3 million earlier in the year.
The Chief Minister continued: “I have today written to the President of Tynwald on behalf of the Council of Ministers to request that he consider calling an extraordinary sitting of Tynwald on Tuesday 13 September. This will enable Tynwald to discuss the cost of living pressures and for Government to set out its response.”
