The Isle of Man Government has been helping to stop drowning on the world’s largest tropical lake in Africa.
A grant from the International Development Fund is supporting the RNLI’s Lake Victoria Drowning Prevention Project, which saves lives in Tanzania.
The charity says more than 100,000 lake fishers face dangers including using traditional wooden boats, lacking lifejackets and facing dangerous weather.
Many of them are also unable to swim - so the RNLI is teaching water safety in schools and working with local lifesaving organisations.
