Glenside Care Home in Douglas will close over the next two years in what the Government calls a 'restructuring' of its services.
Minister for Social Care Chris Roberstshaw confirmed this the morning in the House of Keys.
He said it was a culmination of refocusing the department's services,rebalancing its budget and assessing a wider range of care options for elderly people.
Mr Robertshaw said he wanted to see more people receiving home care and maintaining a greater level of independence .
The care home's 64 staff met with their employers this morning to discuss their options, and we'll have more updates on this story over the coming weeks.
